Camping

Last week Jeremy decided to take Avery for an overnight camping trip.

During the night Jeremy was woken out of a dead sleep by a Screech Owl. The owl was perched on a branch 20 feet away. He threw his shoe at it. The owl flew a little further away. So he threw his other shoe at it. The shoe hit the branch the owl was perched on and it flew off. Avery did not wake up for any of that, even though he did ask about, "the rooster" in the morning. He did wake up when the moon rose though, thinking that it was morning.

Avery came home with lots of bruises, scratches and some sun burn. But he had a great time with Jeremy.
On the way home they stopped at a friend's house in Crouch. While there they were able to feed and pet his horses, a calf and some chickens.

Silver Lining

I had to have a root canal three weeks ago. While I had my bad tooth I also had canker sores on the same side of my mouth. I was unable to chew anything, so all my food had to be things that I could just swallow. I quite drinking milk, I usually only have it on my cereal in the morning, and eating most dairy (well most everything).

After two weeks I again started having cereal in the morning. I had not realized how much less Azrielle had been spitting up, nor did she have the putrid smelling gas. A couple of days eating cereal with milk and I was amazed at how much more she was spitting up. After discussing her symptom's with the lactation consultant and her MD. It has been decided that she does not have the enzyme to break down the protein in cow's milk. I am now trying to find something to drink that will be OK on her little stomach.

I grew up drinking goat's milk, it took me three years after we moved to Boise before I would drink cow's milk. I have often wondered if I would like it if I got the opportunity to drink it again. It is definitely not my first choice for a beverage. I tried putting strawberry Quick in it, it was like I was licking a strawberry goat. I will try this for a few days, if it does not work I will try a different milk until I find something that will work.

It is nice to finally find out why she has been having so many problems. I just wish that I would not have had to go through such hard times to figure it out. I get my new crown on in October.

Mommy's Big Helper

The other day we were trying to get ready to go to an appointment. I set Azrielle's car seat over by the swing, which is right next to our brick hearth, in anticipation of putting her in. I then went back in the kitchen to do one more thing. Avery was in the kitchen with me and then went in the living room. As I came around the corner into the living room I just about had a heart attack. Avery had picked up Azrielle and was transferring her from the swing into the car seat. At a time like this you want to scream, but you know that if you did things would go very wrong.

The transfer went with out a hitch, he even got her almost in the right position. Now I know why children give you grey hair, or heart attacks.

This is the first time that Avery has held Azrielle long enough for a picture. It is, "I want to hold her, please.", then 10 seconds later, "Mommy, hold her", as he pushes her off his lap.

So I would like to know who had the bright idea to go ahead and get into some serious potty training of their 2 1/2 year old, with a month old baby and canning season coming on? Ooooh, that would be me. Avery has been running around with his little bum and other parts hanging out this last week.
He has been really good about going pee on the potty, but poop has been another story. Avery is a two to three a dayer. So when he got to Wednesday morning without any thing, I was pretty sure he would explode soon. I was trying to can beets that my neighbor had brought over, be aware of what he is doing, and making sure that Azrielle doesn't cry, he runs into the kitchen with poop on his hand saying, "Yucky, poopy on the lid.". I am so excited, thinking that he is just getting ready to poop, I rush him into the bathroom and put him on the toilet. He keeps saying "Poopy on the lid." I finally decide that I had better check out his room. There is a huge pile on a lid of a box, at least it was an easy clean up.
On Thursday we head over to the Farnsworth's for dinner. I did put him in a pair of sweat pants, I didn't think they would have very good appetites if he came over naked. Avery did not eat very much and soon after goes to head outside. On his way out I ask if he needed to go to the potty. "No, No Potty!" was his reply. Within five minutes he had poop all over their back porch and all over him. Daddy got to hose him off. Thank you Daddy!!!
I then decided that he would not leave the house until he can go poop on the toilet. Friday night he started to and then stopped, thinking we could get him to go he was up until 10. He did not go on Saturday either. I was not going to put pants on him and have him go in church, so we stayed home today.
I am happy to say that he ran in to the bathroom this morning saying, "I need to poop." And low and behold, he did!!! We did a dance and yelled and celebrated, he got his treats that we have been promising him, and the present that has been hanging on the back of the bathroom door for over a week. Then not two hours later, he poops on the floor of his bedroom. Oh My!!!
