Trip to Arizona

Avery and I took a trip down to Mesa to visit some of my family before I had to buy two tickets, and before there was one more of us.
This is the morning we were coming home. I thought it was so cute that he pulled the blanket around his little (maybe not too little) head. One of his cousins, Erin gave up a stuffed monkey that was a favorite bedtime snuggler.

Avery and Sparky got along very well. This is them waiting for dinner to get done. Avery would love to give Sparky hugs, until he got a kiss back. :-)

The things that we find so fun and interesting as we are learning about our surroundings, and our bodies. Avery will blow bubbles for quite a while, just for fun.

Kissen (Kristen) was definitely on the top of Avery's favorite list. She was very disappointed that I would not be able to ride with her (as was I), but Avery loved going out to the horses. "Ride horsey, Kissen, horsey ride," was heard a lot.

He even liked to just look at them. If the door was open, or unlocked, he would be headed out to see the horses.

He was content to just sit on them when they were eating also.

His first experience on a non baby swing. He did fall out once, I think it was partly my fault though.

Getting chickens

I have been wanting to get some chickens for quite a while. Jeremy and I have talked about it. This spring we decided that it was time. Jeremy got the supplies to build a chicken coop for a really good price. He did a fantastic job!

Avery and I set up the box that we will keep the little chicks in until they are old enough to go out in their coop for Family Home Evening last night. By the end of the evening there was a generous sprinkling of shavings all around the box. Avery is so excited to get some, "Avey chickens," as he has been referring to them.

We went down today and picked up six little chicks, three araucanas and three gold sex links. Jeremy talked to a guy at the D&B and these are the ones that he said were good. The araucana chickens will lay colored eggs.
Avery did not want to put the box down. When we got in the car he was upset that I would not let him hold the chick box on the way home.

When we got them in their box he did not want to do anything other than sit and watch and touch the chicks. I had to drag him away so that I could feed him lunch. I thought I would have a hard time putting him down for a nap, but luckily all the little chicks were also taking a nap, so it was not as difficult as I suspected.
